Name: The Dog Pub
Site: http://www.yelp.com/biz/the-dog-pub-formerly-thirsty-dog-pub-baltimore
Location: 20 E Cross Street, Federal Hill, Baltimore
Verdict: Pizza good although spicy, Beers pretty good too
Dog Pub is a small hip place in the Federal Hill neighborhood that supposedly allows in dogs (although we didn't see any). We got there early to avoid the noise and crowds and it was very cozy. Beers are named like "Blonde Dog" or "Peach Dog" and come as two half-sizes each (very Man-Show-ish). The pizza was good: thin crust, good toppings, although a little liquidy in the middle. Later on I had horrendous digestive problems but that might just be me :)

Listrani's
Name: Listrani's
Site: http://www.listranis.com/
Location: Wilson Blvd in Courthouse
Verdict: Average
Good old listrani's, for reasonable Italian food. I actually had a calzone here last time, but previously got a green pepper pizza which was ok. Not amazing, but their location is quite convenient. Lauren got spaghetti & meatballs and she liked it, although I thought the meatballs were somewhat springy.

ZPizza
Name: ZPizza
Site: http://zpizza.com/
Location: Intersection of Washington Blvd and Pershing in Arlington
Verdict: Very good, more for takeout than sit-down
We went to ZPizza after coming back from Lauren's parents place yesterday. I wanted to physically go there to check the place out (Lauren wanted to call in an order). We got an 18" American, it was pretty darn good although somewhat pricey. Seemed to be more California style than NY, but I liked it. The whole concept reminds me of "Noodles and Company" but for pizza. Next time we'll get it delivered :)

Comet
Name: Comet
Site: http://www.washingtonpost.com/ac2/wp-dyn?node=cityguide/profile&id=1131542
Location: Intersection of Connecticut and Nebraska, near Politics&Prose in Cleveland Park
Verdict: Pretty good, funny cheese
We visited Comet before a talk at Politics & Prose; Lauren got a tomato pie whilst I got a sub. The decor is really neat in there ("Ping-Pong" theme!!). Bathrooms are a little hard to find though, I bet the staff gets annoyed having to tell people where they are all the time. Lauren liked her pizza, crust was good but it tasted somewhat different than normal pizza, I thought it was the cheese's fault (chedder? muenster?) but it could have been the sauce also.

Tony's NY Pizza
Name: Tony's NY Pizza
Site: http://www.tonysnypizza.com/
Location: Fair Lakes Shopping Area, Fairfax, VA
Verdict: Pretty good
We went to Tony's the other day after Lauren heard about it. It's a small place in a strip mall in the parking lot of a larger "mall" development. Seems about the same pretentiousness level as most NY pizza places, that is to say, not much. We had a 14" with green peppers. The sauce was a little sweet to me and the crust wasn't burnt enought, but Lauren thought the crust was great and the sauce too salty. Ah well!
